White House and Executive Agencies to Aid Muslim Brotherhood Fronts in tapping Federal Stimulus Grants
Christine Brim of the Center for Security Policy has a stunning example of stealth jihad in a dossier piece published today on Big Peace: “Coming August 31: ‘Direct Access’ Stimulus Grants for the Muslim Brotherhood”. It involves the White House and Executive Agencies educating member organizations of the Coordinating Council of Muslim Organizations (CCMO) many of them Muslim Brotherhood front groups, on how to access, on a fast track basis, Federal Stimulus money for ‘social services’ projects. Brim amply documents who are the leaders of the CCMO and many of these Muslim Brotherhood groups like the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), Council of American Islamic Relations (CAIR), and Muslim Political Action Committee (MPAC) who have been identified as unindicted co-conspirators in the Holy Land Foundation Trial convictions.
Here is what Brim discloses:
Think of it as ACORN reborn, with a slice of Jihad on the side.
On August 31, this coming Tuesday, the Muslim Brotherhood-associated “Coordinating Council of Muslim Organizations” (CCMO) will bring 25-30 Muslim leaders of 20 national Muslim groups to attend a special workshop presented by the White House and U.S. Government agencies (Agriculture, Education, Homeland Security, Health and Human Services etc.) to provide the groups “funding, government assistance and resources.” The workshop will apparently provide special access for these Muslim Brotherhood organizations: the organizers pledge to provide “direct access” and “cut through red tape.” Government and Muslim groups will hold an Iftar dinner (breaking the fast of Ramadan) after the workshop.
Brim cites email sent on Friday, August 27th by ISNA describes what the CCOM event is poised to do and who is involved:
This year, a phenomenal next step has been made where government iftars become coupled with workshops to provide resources and benefit the Muslim community. The US Department of Agriculture (DOA) and the Coordinating Council of Muslim Organizations (CCMO) have paired the first of such events, scheduled for August 31, 2010.
…Leaders from Muslim organizations around the nation, particularly social service organizations, are invited to a workshop with representatives from the DOA, Faith Based and Neighborhood Partnerships, Health and Human Services, the White House, Department of Education, the Department of Homeland Security, and more. Twenty five to thirty Muslim leaders representing 20 Muslim organizations are expected to attend the workshop.
According to a representative of CCMO, this workshop is designed to clarify how Muslim nonprofits, mosques, Islamic centers, and social service organizations can strengthen their communities through more direct access to opportunities provided to social service agencies at the Federal level. “It will hopefully help cut through some of the red tape and shine light on the many opportunities for funding, government assistance, and resources that we just don’t know about at the local level,” said Elsanousi.
Whenever I see the White House Council of Faith Based and neighborhood partnerships involved, I immediately think of Dalia Mogahed, an Obama Muslim appointee and head of Muslim polling for the Gallup Organization. Mogahed is co-author of Who Speaks for Islam: What a billion Muslims Think? Is she the White House insider abetting this thinly disguised grant assistance program for Muslim brotherhood front groups? After all she has been overwhelmingly silent on application of Islamic Sharia law in America and elsewhere. For example, she did not respond to the Freedom Pledge letter sent her by Former Muslims United requesting her to abjure death fatwas against those who have chosen to leave Islam. Then, she was on a British television program with representatives of the extremist Islamic group Hizb ut Tahrir failing touting Sharia treatment of women.
Could it be that she organized this event in consort with the CCMO inviting more than 20 American Muslim organizations to this Washington, DC conference on Tuesday, August 31st to instruct Muslim Brotherhood groups on how to help the Obama Administration by tapping into backlogged Stimulus funds? Is this a case of Muslim Executive Agency staffers assisting brothers in the ummah to engage in ‘social agency’ project funding?
I raise the question of whether this Federal inter agency project orchestrated by the Obama White House is effectively giving preferential treatment to Muslim groups in possible violation of the establishment clause of the First Amendment?
Brim in an email about this program noted a central concern:
This speaks to the intentions and connections of the Muslim federal employees who organized this event at the White House and Department of Agriculture - as well as those other agencies attending. It seems to me that this might violate separation of church and state, given how they seem to be preferencing one religion? And also the language in this email suggests that an interagency group of Muslim employees (the executive equivalent to the Congressional Muslim Staffers Association) is organizing these events, explicitly in partnership with CCMO. Does anyone know about such a group? There's nothing illegal about such a group existing as far as I know, but it would be typical Muslim Brotherhood tactics. Does any Congressional Committee have oversight responsibility or standing to ask questions about this event and the organizers?
After all, it is Ramadan. Muslims are obligated to perform acts of charity, Zakat. What better means of furthering “the way of Allah” then to tap into available Federal Stimulus funds? We note that one of the applications of Zakat is to support Jihad.
As Brim said, this amounts to a Muslim version of ACORN, ‘with a slice of Jihad on the side’. Notwithstanding the Congressional Summer Recess, concerned members of Congress ought to seriously question the Obama White House on this misguided venture. When they come back after Labor Day they will have only a few weeks to do any business, prior to the Campaign recess in October. Perhaps White House Muslim aides knew that when ISNA sent out Friday’s email to Muslim Brotherhood groups to attend the grant assistance program on Tuesday, the 31st.
Brim suggests a few things that might be done, given these disclosures:
One solution: Cancel this meeting, and schedule one for all religious organizations. If government grants are to be given to religious groups (a policy some question, but set that aside here), then all grant applicants of all religions, including Muslims should be treated equally. And if Muslim social service groups attend, they should be ones without ties to the Muslim Brotherhood or other Islamist groups dedicated to imposing Shariah law in the U.S.
An alternate solution: Keep the event as currently planned – apparently arranged and dominated by CCMO – but open it up to the media (including network, cable, radio, Big Peace, bloggers, etc.) as well as organizations with expertise on the Muslim Brotherhood, like the Investigative Project, the Middle East Forum, NEFA Foundation, Hudson Institute, the Center for Security Policy and many others. Let the sunshine in…
This White House CCMO orchestrated event will likely ensue, unless there is an immediate klieg light of disclosure prompted by Congressional and public outrage. Unfortunately, there is just too little time in the next 36 hours to crank up a campaign to oppose it.
Watch Walid Shoebat debate Rev. Barry Lynn over Imam Rauf and the Ground Zero mosque on FoxNews’ O’Reilly Factor
The sturm und drang surrounding the controversial Ground Zero Mosque project and Imam Rauf was graphically on display last night on FoxNews. Laura Ingraham hosted a segment on the O’Reilly Factor with Walid Shoebat in a debate with the Rev. Barry Lynn, executive director of Americans United for Separation of Church and State (AU). The spur for this debate was the video clip of an appearance on The Daily Show Thursday night of Mayor Bloomberg of New York City, the chairman of the World Trade Center Memorial Foundation. Bloomberg is shown in the video clip arguing that opponents of the Ground Zero mosque were religiously demonizing demagogues seeking political gain in the upcoming November mid-term elections. Bloomberg further contended that even 9/11 families have come out in favor of building the Ground Zero mosque, now euphemistically renamed, the Park Place 51 project. He noted that the mosque, which is located just a few hundred yards from Ground Zero, had been in operation for over a year.
Rev. Lynn, who supports Bloomberg’s position, looked foolish. He lamely took Imam Rauf’s position that Sharia is somehow in compliance with our Constitution, while suggesting that most American Muslims don’t adhere to the Islamic Law, anyway. Lynn tried to softball the issue by suggesting that the arguments against Rauf and the Ground Zero mosque were a mere piffle as American Muslims constituted less than one percent of the US population. Lynn in this FoxNews video falls back on the specious argument that Sharia is all about proselytizing, like any other religion.
Shoebat forcefully argued that Rauf’s intent was to establish an Islamic state under Sharia beginning with the Ground Zero mosque project. He cited Rauf’s own words translated from the Arabic that we had posted, most recently from a Jordanian newspaper in an article authored by the Imam, currently traveling in the Middle East on a goodwill mission sponsored by our State Department. Shoebat noted his translation from the Al-Ghad Newspaper in Jordan, 5/9/2009
In it, Imam Rauf reveals his views to Muslims right after the 9/11 attacks that Hamas, Hezbollah and Islamic Jihad were born as a result of the Muslim hunger for Islamic law and justice.
According to the Imam, secularism is not the answer to a Muslim and that “all the laws Muslims need are in the Quran and the Hadith”. It is Islam and not the secular American Constitution that “offers life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”
Of course Iman Rauf is merely referring to Muslims receiving life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness since according to Rauf, 'infidels' (all non-Muslims) deserve the inverse: death, slavery and misery.
In an email exchange with Shoebat, who had sent me the Ingraham video segment, I noted the irony of Rev. Lynn, whose organization allegedly supports the building of the Ground Zero mosque apparently does not understand the inherent conflict between Sharia and the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment that his group purportedly defends. Under Sharia there is no separation of mosque and State.
Islam is a political doctrine seeking world domination through stealth Jihad with a thin veneer of religious practices. Islamic Sharia law threatens to control every aspect of life for all Americans if the Muslim Brotherhood Grand Jihad plan ever succeeded in supplanting our Constitution.
Shoebat, in our email exchange, had these observations to make about the Mega-mosque debates, epitomized by the conflict over the Ground Zero mosque promoted by Imam Rauf.
As usual, I ignore the other side and simply read Rauf's own words, people believe quotes more than a talking head. Quotes are facts.
O'Reily deceives himself when he says that the Mosque will not happen. He doesn't understand Muslim stubbornness. This issue is not going away easily. It will be a long issue that will make the U.S. wake up. We are entering a phase in history like never before and Americans are going to get a rude awakening that will unite them.

Project Samossa: Did Canada get a wakeup call on Homegrown Islamic terrorism?
Ottawa police on Project Samossa Counterterrorism raids
A tip of the hat to Canadian lawyer and intelligence expert David Harris in Ottawa for this latest episode of home grown terrorism north of the border.
In a series of sweeps in Canada’s capital of Ottawa on Wednesday, an RCMP national security investigation resulted in the arrests of three Muslim Canadian suspects. They are Hiva Alizadeh , Misbahuddin Ahmed and James Lara. They were allegedly involved in a plot to create improvised explosive devices for possible attacks on government offices and Canadian Coalition forces in Afghanistan. The RCMP uncovered evidence including sophisticated computer circuitry and materials for remote bomb making.
As a report in the Ottawa Citizen noted the individuals arrested harbored Jihadist hatred of Canadian values and were educated leaders in the Muslim community:
Two of the accused men are professionals — a doctor (and father of three) and an x-ray technician.
The third studied to be an electrical engineer. All are apparently intellectually mature individuals rooted in Canadian life. One even appeared on the reality program Canadian Idol. [See the Vlad Tepes blog Canadian Idol video of fourth suspect Dr. Khurram Sher, here]. While much is still to be learned about them, poverty, deprivation and social alienation do not appear to have been part their alleged descent to homicidal hatred.
“This group posed a real and serious threat to the citizens of National Capital Region and Canada’s national security,” said RCMP Chief Supt. Serge Therriault, head of criminal operations for the capital region, told an Ottawa news conference Thursday.
[Vlad Tepes blog has an edited English language video of RCMP Supt. Therriault’s news conference here].
He said an RCMP-led national security investigation employing about 100 joint-forces officers for the past year was forced to move on the suspects this week to prevent “financial support” going to international terrorists for weapons to attack western coalition forces.
Raids on two west Ottawa addresses Wednesday uncovered more than 50 circuit boards police believe were intended to remotely trigger detonators for improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Also seized was what police described as a “vast quantity” of schematics, videos, drawings, instruction books and electronic components for IEDs. Investigators believe the suspects are part of a domestic terrorist group with links to international terrorism. The Canadian Security Intelligence Service was the first to begin investigating the individuals, though no details have been released.
“There are certain individuals in Canada who have adopted an ideology inspired by international terrorist groups who promote heinous violence to achieve their goals,” CSIS Assistant Director Raymond Boisvert told the packed news conference. “This case reiterates the serious nature of this threat, which can result in tragic consequences if left unchecked.” The spy agency at some point alerted the Mounties, who assigned the “Project Samossa” file to the Ottawa-based Integrated National Security Enforcement Team, one of four across the country dedicated to combating threats to the country. RCMP in British Columbia, Manitoba, Quebec and other parts of Ontario assisted. The alleged plot was in its early planning stages and “months” away from being operationally viable, Therriault said. “There remained, throughout, a varied degree of imminence to the threat, whether they were going to conduct an attack or not and how it was going to be done,” he said.
David Harris, Canadian lawyer and intelligence expert, in a column, “This is our future” published in today’s Ottawa Citizen questions whether Canadians have heeded the latest episode in home grown terrorist warnings and the failure of federal authorities to address root causes. He noted:
This is your future. That was my wretched thought on behalf of Canadians as I watched Thursday's Project Samossa news conference.
Samossa was the major national security investigation that erupted this week in counterterrorism raids and the arrest of four Muslim-Canadians. The government's charges against three of them imply a wealth of evidence that will shock the conscience of Canadians.
These charges and limited revelations suggest that we could be front-row witnesses to the most vile of manifestations of the Islamist jihad in this country. The allegation is that people living among us and enjoying the immense privileges of Canadian citizenship, are siding with enemy forces aiming to kill and maim our boys and girls serving in Afghanistan -- and maybe residents of Ottawa and other Canadian centres, too.
We shouldn't be surprised.
The Toronto 18 showed us the savagery of the 7th-century war that is being imported into our 21st-century neighbourhoods. Defendants included those who should have been a credit to educated youth. From some we would have expected gratitude of immigrants who had been welcomed to a gentle and generous nation. Canadians' reward was instead a conspiracy to rent Toronto with explosives, and blast our Parliament with invasion and a prime ministerial beheading.
Further hints -- and only hints -- of our growing predicament come from a series of recent convictions.
Think of Momin Khawaja, the handsome Department of Foreign Affairs software consultant and moonlighter in international bomb-making. Then there was Said Namouh, Quebec-based Moroccan bomb-plotter, and the Groupe Fatah Kamel, which drove a French counterterror magistrate to pin Canada as an international centre of North African Islamic extremism.
These threats were headed off by good luck and good security work, but are auguries of future violence, economy-defying instability and further pressure on civil liberties.
But why must this be our future? Because we refuse to heed warnings, learn basic lessons and act in a responsible way to preserve our well-being.
To understand this in the context of Islamic radicalism is to account properly for the main sources of Canada's escalating extremism. These sources are immigration and refugee influxes, and the homegrown extremist phenomenon.
Liberal politicians long ago turned immigration and refugee streams into vote-importing mechanisms. Conservatives continue to do so at the expense of Canadians' safety and tens of billions in net per annum immigration costs, plus attendant and overwhelming security costs. So pronounced is the pathology that not even a terrible recession could prevent Immigration Minister Jason Kenney from hiking immigration and refugee levels from what were already roughly the highest per capita in the world. These levels are too great to allow for reliable vetting in a world where war and ideological struggles rage, and we are a target.
Harris suggests that Canadian laissez faire attitudes towards the Middle East and politically correct community policing programs may have unwittingly abetted home grown Islamic terrorism as evidenced by this week’s Samossa Project disclosures:
As part of this, we must put a halt to Saudi funding and similar fundamentalist influence in Canada's Islamic and other institutions. Most emphatically, Islamist front organizations and fellow-travelling "Islamic rights" groups should be barred from the legitimizing table of security outreach. [. . .] The useful tool of community policing periodically metastasizes into unhealthy outreach programs with Islamic front organizations, as officials seek to appease and humour the louder -- and sometimes aggressive -- influences.
Harris’ teaching points to fellow Canadians should not be lost on Americans whose attention has been diverted by the swirl of controversy over the Ground Zero mosque and similar projects across the US. Outreach by national and local law enforcement and homeland security agencies to Muslim Brotherhood fronts has not stopped home grown threats here. Nor has it revealed the sources of funding of mega mosques by foreign Islamic extremist groups and the funneling of Muslim charity funds to designated foreign terrorist organizations.
Several Months ago in Tallahasee, Florida, I heard David Beamer, father of the late Todd Beamer, a hero of Flight 93. His comments then were compelling, engrossing and disturbing. It takes a lot of courage for David to even speak about the threat of Islamic Jihad that took the lives of his son, depriving both he and his wife, Todd's widow and children of a loving father. Multiply that by three thousand more dead murdered at the hands of what David Beamer called "good Muslims." They followed the 'way of Allah" and commited Jihad on all of us in America on 9/11; what I called "the Pearl Harbor of the 21st century" that I witnessed that brilliant late summer day, nine years ago.
Muslims in the Middle East and elsewhere in the ummah danced with joy, throwing candy at children, while we in sorrow buried what remains existed of our honored dead. Now, we have a proposed 13 story edifice in nearby Park Place that David Beamer believes will be a memorial to 15 of the 9/11 educated young Yemenis, Egyptians and Saudis who murdered 3000 innocents including his son Todd. But Todd Beamer and fellow passengers on Flight 93 took action. With the cry of "Let's Roll," he and fellow passengers revolted and valiantly succeeded in attacking the remaining four Jihadis causing the crash in a field in Southeastern Pennsylvania instead of one of two intended targets, either The White House or the US Capitol Building.
David Beamer extended a hand to me, my colleague Nonie Darwish of Former Muslims United and Rabbi Jon Hausman that day when we spoke in opposition to Florida Muslim Capitol Day at a Florida Security Council sponsored event in Tallahassee this past March. He thought we were courageous for doing what we could to enlighten Americans about dangers from Muslim Brotherhood fronts seeking to supplant our Constitution with Sharia.
Watch David Beamer articulate in this You Tube Video what we believe are concerns of increasing numbers of Americans about what's behind the Ground Zero Mosque and nearly a dozen other mega-mosque 'projects' that have erupted across this country from lower Manhattan to Murfreesboro, Tennessee to Temecula, California. With November 2nd not far off, perhaps David Beamer's comments will spur you to vote for candidates who will push back against the stealth strategy of a Grand Jihad. A Grand Jihad that aims to bring America to its knees under the domination of an Islamic Sharia state.
Watch Temecula Mosque Imam Duck Question on Hamas and Hezbollah
In the media conflicts surrounding the mega-mosque controversies erupting across America, we have seen precious little from mainstream media that gets to the heart of the matter of who and what is funding these projects. To the credit of the American Center for Law & Justice (ACLJ), they have undertaken a law suit opposing the Temecula, California mosque project involving the construction of a 25,000 square foot mosque adjacent to a church for approximately 150 families. Sound familiar? It ought to. That is what the Islamic Center of Murfreesboro (ICM) is doing in Rutherford County, Tennessee.
Mano Bakh, a Former Muslims United founding board member has been in the forefront of opposition to the California mosque. He has lead the formation of a new group, Concerned American Citizens, to engage in the effort to question whether the proposed mosque and its leadership have reached out to foreign sources for building this mosque and possible connections to foreign terrorist organizations (FTO) like Hamas.
Dylan Ratigan, who has his own show on MSNBC, arranged for a debate between Imam Harmoush of the Temecula mosque and Jordan Sekulow, director of international operations of the ACLJ. The prop for this debate was a questionable Duke study that said that Islamic Centers like those in Murfreesboro, Tennessee Temecula, California, Sheboygan, Wisconsin and the controversial Ground Zero mosque in lower Manhattan were the best defense against terrorism.
During this MSNBC segment, Sekulow raises the lack of transparency issue about mosques supporting FTOs like Hamas and Hezbollah. Radigan repeatedly requests that Imam Harmoush in Temecula answer Sekulow's question about terrorist support. Harmoush does a taqiyya two step evading any answers.
Perhaps Imam Bahloul of the ICM in Tennessee should be confronted with these same questions about terrorist group support and foreign funding sources for their expansion project that his brother in the Muslim ummah Imam Harmoush demurred in response to Sekulow and Ratigan's queries. If this could be done on national cable TV news, then it raises the issue about why the ICM project was given a green light by the Rutherford County Commission when it should have addressed these same questions in its review of the ICM's land zoning application? Will Ratigan of MSNBC consider doing a similar follow up segment on the ICM with Imam Bahloul? Stay tuned.
In the meantime watch this riveting MSNBC news segment with Ratigan evincing the fortitude to closely question Imam Harmoush in response to issues raised by Jordan Sekulow of the ACLJ about terror groups Hamas and Hezbollah.
Z STREET – pro Israel Advocacy Group- Discriminated Against by IRS
Z STREET- the pro Israel antidote to J STREET- filed a complaint today in the Eastern District Federal Court in Philadelphia against US IRS Commissioner, Douglas H. Shulman. The grounds were violations of the organization’ s Free Speech rights by denial of the group’s filing as a 501c3, tax exempt organization under the Internal Revenue Code. We note that the J Street Education Foundation, Inc. is a 501 c3 tax exempt organization. Z STREET had filed its 501c3 application in January, 2010, and heard back from the IRS examiner in mid-July.
As noted in a news release today:
Z STREET is a Zionist organization that proudly supports Israel’s right to refuse to negotiate with, make concessions to, or appease terrorists. Z STREET’s positions on Israel and, in particular, on the Middle East “peace process” differ significantly from those espoused by the Obama Administration.
In its complaint and request for a declaratory judgment; Z STREET presented its compelling reasons for the Federal court filing:
The case is brought because, through its corporate counsel, Z STREET was informed explicitly by an IRS Agent on July 19, 2010, that approval of Z STREET’s application for tax-exempt status has been at least delayed, and may be denied because of a special IRS policy in place regarding organizations in any way connected with Israel, and further that the applications of many such Israel-related organizations have been assigned to “a special unit in the D.C. office to determine whether the organization's activities contradict the Administration's public policies.” These statements by an IRS official that the IRS maintains special policies (hereinafter the “Israel Special Policy”) governing applications for tax-exempt status by organizations which deal with Israel, and which requires particularly intense scrutiny of such applications and an enhanced risk of denial if made by organizations which espouse or support positions inconsistent with the Obama Administration’s Israel policies, constitute an explicit admission of the crudest form of viewpoint discrimination, and one which is both totally un-American and flatly unconstitutional under the First Amendment.
If the facts in the matter are confirmed then American Zionists may have just witnessed ‘censorship’ by the Obama Administration. An Administration that has allied itself with J STREET endeavouring to suppress views opposite to its proposals for a thinly disguised unilateral declaration of a Palestinian state. That, we believe, the agenda behind the recently announced talks to be convened in Washington on September 2nd. Not only for Z STREET, but for most Americans concerned about truth in the Middle East, this complaint now becomes a cause celebre.
When I spoke with Lori Lowenthal Marcus, President of Z STREET, a Harvard Law School Graduate and former practicing First Amendment Lawyer, she noted, that this case represents clear evidence of “viewpoint discrimination under our First Amendment.”
The implications of the IRS official’s comments are cited in the Z STREET press release:
If Z STREET had tax-exempt status, its donors would be able to deduct contributions from their taxable income. The IRS's refusal to grant tax-exempt status to Z STREET has inhibited the organization‘s fundraising efforts, and therefore impeded its ability to speak and to educate the public regarding the issues that are the focus and purpose of Z STREET.
If J Street is a tax exempt organization, then why shouldn’t Z STREET be one?
This Z STREET Federal court compliant is a chilling reminder of the lengths to which the Obama Administration will go to stifle views that conflict with its stealth agenda that I have called “The Czechoslovakization of Israel by Obama”, the title of an April, New English Review article.
Talk of Wilders, Islam and Sharia at a Pensacola Daedalian Presentation
Thursday evening, I gave a presentation to the Pensacola Shangra La Chapter of the Order of the Daedalians – a national organization of senior officers and former aviators from four branches of the military and the Coast Guard; USAF, Navy, Marines, Army Aviation. Listening to some of the stories about their courage and survival in combat from this company of heroes was heartwarming.
I was there to present a stunning video created by a colleague from Former Muslims United, Mano Bakh, and a former high ranking officer in the late Shah of Iran’s Imperial Navy who escaped from the Islamic Republic in 1979. The video, entitled “Islamic Invasion within America,” conveys an important message about Islamic inroads in America, the dangers of the Muslim Brotherhood, Sharia. The presentation was made against the backdrop of the current mega-mosque controversies that have erupted across the country. Bakh, the co-author of book about his own experiences, Escaping Islam, has a website here with more about him, his background, the book and the video. Bakh has been at the forefront of organizing protests against the proposed Temecula mosque in Southern California.
In my comments that preceding and followed the video presentation I noted my own experiences on 9/11 and the wise words of our founding fathers about the dangers from jihadist Islam, and FMU efforts to confront Sharia and mega-mosque promoters at ground zero in Lower Manhattan, Murfreesboro Tennessee and Temecula, California among the more than dozen project that have come to the public’s attention, recently.
The audience of over 90 attendees was attentive and concerned. At the conclusion of the presentation a number of them stayed around to ask questions – a good sign.
One couple who approached me was Dutch. The Husband, Frits Forrer grew up in Holland during the Nazi occupation. After WWII he came to the US for USAF pilot training. He wanted to stay here, but had to return to the Netherlands where he flew for the Dutch Air force during the Korean War. In his retirement here in Pensacola he continues to write about his experiences. You can see his work at his website, here.
Among former military flying officers who attended this Daedalian presentation, it is clear they got the main teaching point: Islamic Sharia is a clear and present danger to us here in America. They got the message, while the mainstream media engages in disinformation defending Islam as exemplary of American values of religious freedom. The mainstream media is fecklessly abetting the Grand Jihad of the Muslim Brotherhood in America misleading an unwary American public of the dangers rapidly growing from within.
I noticed a slight Dutch accent. I asked him if he knew Geert Wilders. His eyes light up. He spoke a few words in perfect Dutch to me in greeting. He and his wife spoke of watching a debate on Dutch television between Wilders and Balkenende, the head of the Dutch Christian Democratic Party whose party had fallen and had finished in third position with a loss of more than 20 seats in the Hague Parliament. Wilders’ PVV or Freedom Party had surged in the June general elections tallying 24 seats finishing second. In recent polling that surge for Wilders and the Freedom party with Dutch polls indicating that the PVV might garner upwards of 31 seats in a hypothetical snap election. Forrer commented that Wilders apparently jammed it to Balkenende during the televised debate. To paraphrase Forrer’s retelling of the incident, Wilders hectored Balkenende by saying, "You wouldn't spend one Dutch guilder on seniors, but you would spend money for support of Muslim immigrants. Answer the question." Wilders kept pounding Balkenende with the question while the latter hemmed and hawed. Finally, according to Forrer, the moderator intervened and moved the debate on to another topic. Clearly, Forrer understands and supports control on Muslim immigration both in his native Holland and here in the US that Wilders is leading the charge on with his launch of the International Freedom Alliance. Both Forrer and his wife, and I suspect many of the Daedalians would be eager to meet Wilders should he come to the Florida Panhandle.
Another couple approached me after my presentation. The wife introduced herself as a recently retired US Navy Lt. Commander and language specialist with Navy Office of Information Dominance, the Navy version of the National Security Agency that specializing in Electronic Intelligence. She said that she had grown up in Beirut, as an Orthodox Christian and had childhood friends who were secular Sunni Lebanese. She had also experienced the horrors of the Civil War there in the 1970's akin to what Brigitte Gabriel went through in Southern Lebanon until the Israelis liberated the area during the First Lebanon War in 1982. The now retired US Navy officer immigrated to the US and entered the military, gained citizenship and married her American husband. She told of an incident with a Navy colleague, a Muslim emigrant from Kuwait who was in the same language translation unit.
One day he spoke to her at lunch and told her that one day she and her children would be either Muslim or dhimmis here in America under Sharia. He told her that his first loyalty was to Islam. She turned to him and said, you came to this country and live with the freedoms under our Constitution, how you can still be loyal to Islamic Sharia." She left him at the luncheon table in disgust.
Bill McCollum, the Florida Gubernatorial candidate with real counterterrorism credentials
Bill McCollum, Florida’s Attorney General, has broken out into the clear with a significant lead in the Republican race for governor over Rick Scott, the upstart multi-millionaire former HCA CEO. Weekend polls show McCullom holds an 11 point advantage over Scott going into Tuesday’s gubernatorial primary race here in the Sunshine State. That’s a good thing. Among other qualifications in his impressive 30 year career as a Congressman and elected Attorney General, US Naval Reserve JAG officer, he is the best qualified candidate with impressive counterterrorism credentials.
Here is what we noted back in April in an Iconoclast post entitled, ”Florida Gubernatorial Candidate Bill McCollum on Combating Terrorism“
McCollum has an impressive track record on both the national and state level on a wide variety of issues, as a Congressman and as Florida’s Attorney General. He also served our country as an active duty Navy JAG officer from 1969 to 1972, retiring in 1992 with the rank of Commander in the Naval Reserve after serving over 23 years. While a Member of Congress McCollum represented a central Florida district. McCollum served on several US House Committees, including the House Judiciary Committee and its Subcommittee on Crime, as well as the House Intelligence Committee.
It was his leadership in 1989 that led to the founding of the House Task Force on Terrorism and Unconventional Warfare which made him an expert on Islamic terrorism. McCollum and his dynamic Task Force research director, Israeli-born Yossef Bodansky were prescient about what would morph from the US-Saudi backed Secret War in Afghanistan in the 1980’s, Osama Bin Laden and al Qaeda. Bodansky’s 2001 New York Times bestselling book, Bin Laden: the Man Who Declared War on America, had, according to McCollum, been ready in 1999 as a result of the House Task Force investigations.
In December 2007, Attorney General Bill McCollum had taken up the issue of free speech in academia, when he and Florida State House majority leader Adam Hasner blasted the University of Florida (UF) for stifling the free speech rights of a student group which had sponsored the showing of the film Obsession: Radical Islam’s War Against the West. The group had circulated a flier for the film saying: “radical Islam wants you dead’. It was objected to by a Student Muslim group on the Gainesville, Florida Campus. UF officials had demanded an apology from the student group that sponsored the showing of the film Obsession.
During the Question and Answer period, I asked him, given his considerable background and experience, what he might do to combat terrorism and radical Islam here in Florida.
McCollum noted the ideology of radical Islam that denies our Judeo Christian values and seeks to supplant our Constitution with Muslim Sharia law imperiling human and civil rights. He discussed state and local law enforcement counterterrorism training and intelligence programs, initiated in cooperation with national law enforcement agencies like the FBI, US Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security, to monitor home grown and foreign radical Islamic groups. Interestingly, he drew attention to the lurking possible terrorist threat from Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez via his close association with the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hezbollah and Hamas. McCollum pointed to possible insertion of weapons of mass destruction, including missiles that might be launched from sea-borne commercial shipping. He was demonstrably concerned about security for the more than 11 ports in the Sunshine State. McCollum noted that given the widening of the Panama Canal the danger of sea borne terrorist attacks using sophisticated missiles with non-conventional capabilities could become an increasing threat to Floridians and the nation.
McCollum commented that given his Congressional and State Attorney General experience with counterterrorism programs, Floridians could expect that he would be ever vigilant in protecting them from harm given possible Islamic terrorism threats.

Listen to the cries of those who protested today. Next big protest event is on September 5th with Geert Wilders and Newt Gingrich among invited speakers.
Canadian Muslim Woman alleges Ground Zero Mosque Developer made threatening call
Will wonders never cease. Sharif El Gamal, the developer of the ground zero mosque complex, the Park 51 Center, allegedly threatened Raheel Raza, a Canadian Muslim Woman and co-founder of the Muslim Canadian Congress (MCC), during a phone conversation. Raza had earlier co-authored with Tarek Fatah, an Op-ed critical of building the Mosque in lower Manhattan, "Mischief in Manhattan". This recent threat against Ms. Raza followed a tense meeting in Manhattan last week with Daisy Khan the wife of Imam Faisal Abdul Rauf, Raza and Maureen Basnicki, a Canadian 9/11 widow ,who was originally predisposed to proceeding with the controversial 15 story $100 Million project. It is alleged that the developer has less than $18,000 in the project bank account. Clearly they are awaiting the results of solicitation by Rauf in the UAE about whether the funds are in hand to move forward. Rauf was staked to this find raising opportunity by our beneficient State Department under Secretary Clinton who sent him on a good will tour in the Middle East. The ground zero mosque has the waffling support of President Obama. New York Michael Bloomberg was applauded by the NYC Bar Association for defending it. New York State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, the Democratic gubernatorial candidate supports it, while Rick Lazio, Cuomo's Republican opponent this fall has come out squarely against the ground zero mosque even suggesting that Cumo should investigate it. Last week, New York's current Governor, David Patterson said that he might provide an alternative site and possibly state funding. But the developers at Soho Properties, Inc. led by el-Gamal rejected that option to relocate. However, the project is mired in controversy with a majority of American and New Yorkers opposed to building it, as being insensitive to the survivors and victim's families. So, what we have here, you should pardon the expression, is chutzpah, Sharia style.
She spoke out against the Ground Zero mosque, now a Canadian Muslim says she is being threatened.
Raheel Raza, a founding member of the Muslim Canadian Congress, calls the idea of a mosque within 300 metres of Ground Zero in New York "a deliberate provocation."
Last week, Raza joined Maureen Basnicki, a Canadian widow of 9/11 in attending a meeting about the mosque in New York City.
"They were very arrogant. They didn't answer questions," Raza told QMI Agency.
The meeting was hosted by Daisy Khan, the wife of the imam promoting the mosque and Sharif El Gamal, the man whose property firm owns the land the mosque is to be built on.
Raza says she asked questions about who was financing the building, estimated to cost $100 million, and whether any of the money would come from countries other than the U.S.
There has been speculation that the mosque is being funded through Saudi Arabian sources, but at the Manhattan meeting Raza said there were no answers.
On Monday, back in Toronto, Raza says she received a call from a man who identified himself as Sharif El Gamal. "His tone was intimidating," said Raza. "He accused me of 'jumping into' the meeting he called and then said 'May Allah protect you.' I was shocked and hung up."
Raza says she took the phone call as a clear threat against her.
"Why would I need Allah's protection?" asked Raza.
Contacted at his New York office, El Gamal initially didn't have much to say.
"I'm confused by your phone call," he said before hanging up.
Contacted a second time he said, "There was no phone call made by anybody" before again hanging up.
Raza insists there was a call, "I saved the number on my cell." The number on Raza's cellphone matches that of El Gamal's Soho Properties offices in New York.
The proposal to build a mosque so close to Ground Zero has become a hot political topic in the U.S.
On Friday, U.S. President Barack Obama gave a speech at a dinner to mark the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, his speech seemed to indicate support for the mosque.
On Saturday, amid a storm of criticism, Obama said he would not comment on the wisdom of building the mosque in that location, only that Muslims have a right to build if there are no local zoning laws stopping it.
Basnicki told QMI Agency she originally had an open mind about the mosque being built so close to the site of the 9/11 attacks, now she is against it.
"We all believe in religious tolerance. I don't think for one minute that this is about religious tolerance," Basnicki said.
Speaking with QMI Agency from her home in Collingwood, Ont., Basnicki says people might be afraid to speak out for fear of being branded as bigoted, but to her the location is insensitive and she'd like to see it move.
New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has defiantly supported the mosque location despite criticism, while New York Gov. David Paterson plans to discuss relocating the centre to another location.
A CNN/Gallup poll said 68% of Americans oppose the mosque location while 29% support it.
Bostom: Ibn Warraq and Obama’s Ramadan Obeisance to Totalitarian Islam
Andrew Bostom writes of the prescience of colleague Ibn Warraq. Warraq's comments about the totalitarinaism of Islam from his book, Defending the West: A Critique of Edward Said's Orientalism, are an apt description of the dhimmitude on display in President Obama's Ramadan greetings to the American ummah and his defense of the controversial ground zero mega-mosque project, which he subsequently hedged. Apparently this may been prompted by droves of Democrats who Twittered the White House in apparent dismay.
Here is Bostom's post on Warraq's clarity versus Obama's dhimmitude;
Ibn Warraq Defends the Western Values Barrack Obama Defiles With His Obeisance to Totalitarian Islam
Debra Burlingame’s eloquent denunciation of Obama’s Ground Zero Mosque endorsement on behalf of the 9/11 Families for a Safe & Strong America reminded me of these prescient words from 2006 written by the Pakistani native freethinker, and Islamic scholar, Ibn Warraq, regarding the Danish Muhammad cartoons “controversy.”
Warraq warned that if we in the Free West did not show solidarity with the Danish cartoonists, “…then the forces that are trying to impose on the Free West a totalitarian ideology will have won.”
He denounced the kind of self-loathing apologetics that have become pathognomonic of President Obama and his administration, and their inability—or unwillingness—to defend Western values, “intellectually and culturally.”
Be proud, do not apologize. Do we have to go on apologizing for the sins our fathers? Do we still have to apologize, for example, for the British Empire, when, in fact, the British presence in India led to the Indian Renaissance, resulted in famine relief, railways, roads and irrigation schemes, eradication of cholera, the civil service, the establishment of a universal educational system where none existed before, the institution of elected parliamentary democracy and the rule of law? What of the British architecture of Bombay and Calcutta? The British even gave back to the Indians their own past: it was European scholarship, archaeology and research that uncovered the greatness that was India; it was British government that did its best to save and conserve the monuments that were a witness to that past glory. British Imperialism preserved where earlier Islamic Imperialism destroyed thousands of Hindu temples.
On the world stage, should we really apologize for Dante, Shakespeare, and Goethe? Mozart, Beethoven and Bach? Rembrandt, Vermeer, Van Gogh, Breughel, Ter Borch? Galileo, Huygens, Copernicus, Newton and
Darwin? Penicillin and computers? The Olympic Games and Football? Human rights and parliamentary democracy? The west is the source of the liberating ideas of individual liberty, political democracy, the rule of law, human rights and cultural freedom. It is the west that has raised the status of women, fought against slavery, defended freedom of enquiry, expression and conscience. No, the west needs no lectures on the superior virtue of societies who keep their women in subjection, cut off their clitorises, stone them to death for alleged adultery, throw acid on their faces, or deny the human rights of those considered to belong to lower castes.
…Islam will remain unassailed in its dogmatic, fanatical, medieval fortress; ossified, totalitarian and intolerant…Islam will continue to stifle thought, human rights, individuality; originality and truth.
And Warraq implored that this frank criticism of Islamic totalitarianism be complemented by proudly championing the uniquely Western freedoms ostensibly sought by Muslim immigrants to the US, which are of equal, if not more importance to their native Islamic homelands:
How can we expect immigrants to integrate into western society when they are at the same time being taught that the west is decadent, a den of iniquity, the source of all evil, racist, imperialist and to be despised? Why should they, in the words of the African-American writer James Baldwin, want to integrate into a sinking ship? Why do they all want to immigrate to the west and not Saudi Arabia? They should be taught about the centuries of struggle that resulted in the freedoms that they and everyone else for that matter, cherish, enjoy, and avail themselves of; of the individuals and groups who fought for these freedoms and who are despised and forgotten today; the freedoms that the much of the rest of world envies, admires and tries to emulate.” When the Chinese students cried and died for democracy in Tiananmen Square (in 1989) , they brought with them not representations of Confucius or Buddha but a model of the Statue of Liberty.”
Freedom of expression is our western heritage and we must defend it or it will die from totalitarian attacks. It is also much needed in the Islamic world. By defending our values, we are teaching the Islamic world a valuable lesson, we are helping them by submitting their cherished traditions to Enlightenment values.
To the great detriment of our country, till now, Barack Hussein Obama has willfully ignored Ibn Warraq’s courageous wisdom—words Mr. Warraq as a freethinker of Muslim descent in the West, but as an apostate according to Sharia, writes and utters, putting his own very life at risk.
Laura Armstrong: Just what America needs now: Presidential Dhimmitude
Laura Armstrong
Rabbi Jon Hausman sent us this commentary byMarietta [Georgia] Daily Journal columnist, Laura Armstrong on President Obama's apparent lurch toward Dhmmiitude given his controversial Ramadan and Iftar dinner comments, since hedged. Miss Armstrong is the daughter of the late Lt. Col. Roger ("Black Bart") Bartholomew, a First Cav hero of the fierce Ia Drang Valley battle during the Viet Nam war. Ms. Armstrong's views that we believe are reflective of those thoughtful Americans outraged by the supine behavior of political leaders when confronted with the rise of Mega-mosques sprouting like proverbial weeds throughout America in Park Place in lower Manhattan, Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Temecula, California.
While his wife is busy, when not vacationing, telling moms and kids what to eat and how to cook it, he says we shouldn't restrict the building of a mosque just feet from the hallowed ground of the World Trade Center.
While his party outlaws our rights to smoke, cook with partially hydrogenated oil, buy our favorite 100 watt light bulbs or choose our own medical insurance plan, he says we should not outlaw a 15-story building, a supposed place of worship, that will rise like a middle finger from the destruction in lower Manhattan and has likely been bankrolled by terrorist sympathizers and anti-American Muslim groups planning to make the United States their next experiment in creeping Sharia law.
As he tells us to turn down our thermostats, remain stoic through yet more job loss and economic pain and suck it up when our taxes skyrocket in 2011, and as he excoriates American institutions such as Wall Street and Midwesterners who "cling to their guns and religion," He talks tough about kicking a-- - of the capitalist, CEO variety.
But when addressing the dangerous and surreptitious enemy who's trying to stick us in the eye, yet again, he speaks with gentle tolerance and invokes their "constitutional rights."
If I wanted to erect a mammoth Methodist church in Riyadh, do you think it would fly?
So the president simply couldn't resist entering into yet another divisive controversy, and he did so in a Ramadan speech, shocking many and affirming what others have suspected all along - we're in the age of the Dhimmi Presidency.
Barack Obama, it turns out, represents some of the people some of the time and most Americans, not at all. Repeatedly, we're discovering he's The Great Divider, not a uniter or a healer. Nor is he post-racial or post-partisan, and not remotely post-9/11.
Did you hear about the four Christian missionaries who were arrested last month to shouts of Allahu Akbar just minutes after starting to hand out pamphlets ... on a public street in Dearborn, Mich.? They were accused of disturbing the Islamic street fair nearby. Google the "Thomas More Law Center" or "Dearborn Arab fest arrests" without the punctuation and you'll be shocked. Or not. Obama never intervened on behalf of the Christian's rights, so it wasn't news I suppose.
But back to the Obama Mosquapalooza. Don't you think his resounding endorsement is the ultimate symbolic shedding of his American flag lapel pin? I do.
Debra Burlingame is an acquaintance of mine whose brother Charles (Chic) piloted one of the doomed 9/11 airliners. Her organization, 9/11 Families for a Safe and Strong America, issued a statement Saturday describing families as 'stunned" by the president's position on the so-called Cordoba Initiative.
"Barack Obama has abandoned America at the place where America's heart was broken nine years ago, and where her true values were on display for all to see. Since that dark day, Americans have been asked to bear the burden of defending those values, again and again and again. Now this president declares that the victims of 9/11 and their families must bear another burden. We must stand silent at the last place in America where 9/11 is still remembered with reverence or risk being called religious bigots."
Racist haters, religious bigots. These words are ubiquitous in the Age of Obama.
Debra also makes this point:
"This controversy is not about religious freedom. 9/11 was more than a "deeply traumatic event," it was an act of war. Building a 15-story mosque at Ground Zero is a deliberately provocative act that will precipitate more bloodshed in the name of Allah. Those who continue to target and kill American civilians and U.S. troops will see it as a symbol of their historic progress at the site of their most bloody victory....
"We are stunned by the president's willingness to disregard what Americans should be proud of: our enduring generosity to others on 9/11-a day when human decency triumphed over human depravity. On that day, when 3,000 of our fellow human beings were killed in barbaric act of raw religious intolerance unlike this country had ever seen, Americans did not turn outward with hatred or violence, we turned to each other, armed with nothing more than American flags and countless acts of kindness. In a breathtakingly inappropriate setting, the president has chosen to declare our memories of 9/11 obsolete and the sanctity of Ground Zero finished."
To be sure, while most Americans react with shock at the presidential dhimmitude, not to mention he's sided with the real religious bigots, our enemies will rejoice.
Symbolism and propaganda is what they want and need, and President Obama has handed it to them on a silver platter.
Local funding for the Murfreesboro Mega -mosque? Not a chance.
Credit citizen activists and investigators in Rutherford County for uncovering the lack of local funding for the Islamic Center of Murfreesboro expansion project. They found this post by Adnan Shamdeen, a member of the ICM on his Facebook Page on August 13th at the start of the month long Muslim observances of Ramadan soliciting funds from brothers in the American ummah. After all, Ramadan is traditionally a time for giving Zakat, Muslim charity. So why not a contribution to build another mega-mosque, this one in Mufreesboro. The previously announced intentions of the ICM to build this gaudy complex on Veals Road in Rutherford County with local funding were a bit of taqiyya. After all the ICM leaders are in Dar al Hijrah –the realm of immigration where they are permitted to gull the infidels into believing that they had the funds in hand. The local citizen activist-investigators, we at the NER/Iconoclast and others were skeptical.
Eric Stakelbeck of CBN who conducted interviews in Middle Tennessee concerning the Mega mosque conflicts there, made these observations on a CBN segment this week, entitled: “NY to TN: Mosque Debate Heads South.”
He noted:
Opponents argue that a proposal for the mosque was never included in a public notice as done in the past with other construction plans.
There's also concern over where funding for the mosque came from and individuals linked to the mosque who may have a connection to radical Islam.
Watch Stakelbeck’s CBN report here:
Here is the text of ICM member Shamdeen’s Facebook post:
AsSalamu Alaykum (Peace be Upon You);
Dear Brother/Sister:
The Islamic Center Of Murfreesboro is a nonprofit religious organization registered with the state of Tennessee and the IRS. We have been established since the 80s. Recently we have expressed our need to build a larger facility in order to accommodate our needs as a growing community. Our current facility is simply not large enough to accommodate the community needs and we are having to limit the weekend school attendance due to space.
In November 2009 we purchased a 15 acre tract of land and paid for it from funds raised locally. Then we developed a master plan and acquired a county permit for it. Upon obtaining the permit, some people in our city are doing everything within their power to prevent the building of our center and revoke our existing permit, and there have been an overwhelming amount of hateful comments made against Islam and the Islamic center. You can do a simple Google search to find all the opposition that has surrounded our new center in recent weeks.
Upon the advice of our attorney we must do everything in our power to begin building right away since we do currently hold all the necessary legal permits to begin.
Our original plans were to raise of the funds locally over the next two years like we did with the land, and begin the building process as we have the money. For the reasons stated above, we have been left with no choice but to request urgent help from the Muslims community in the USA at large. We ask that you please donate as much as you can, spread the word in your community to donate as much as they can.
We ask that each person receiving this email donate one of the figures below and forward this email to his/her friends and relatives to do the same.
Would you help secure our community's future by encouraging your friends, family, and colleagues to donate for us? Will you help by donating $50, $100, $250, $500, $1,000 or any other amount to our new project fund today?
We can't do this within the given time limit alone and we need your help.
May Allah help and guide us all.

Raising approximately $13 to 15 million from the existing 200+ families of the ICM to build the gaudy expanded ICM complex on the questionable Veals Road site was always questionable. Look at the CBN 'teaser' segmenton the Murfreesboro mosque controversy by Erick Stakelbeck with Imam Bahloul displaying the Master Plan. Then ask yourself a question.
Who was going to pay for this expansive project that would dominate the adjacent Baptist church? And who is going to pay for the storm drainage and expanded access roads? Most likely Rutherford County citizens would bridled at the prospects of picking up the tab for storm drainage and access road traffic congestion problems associated with the ICM expansion project. The construction money will come from brothers in the umma from as far away as Saudi Arabia and the Emirates as they did for most of the mega-mosques built for example in Boston and the east side of Manhattan and in Los Angeles. Remember wherever Islam has conquered lands in the Middle East, Spain, Iran and India, it has built over churches cathedrals, Temples. Think of Cordoba in Spain, the Al Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, the massive Byzantine Hagia Sophia church in Turkey, Zoroastrian Temples in what is now Iran and Hindu Temples in India. So for the ICM project to dominate and crowd out the nearby Baptist chruch is simply within the traditions of Islamic Jihad.
Realize the ICM may have raised the funds to acquire the land on Veals Road and are now prepping it for grading prior to construction. They started that this week at virtually the same time of the County Commission hearing. However, they will need millions more to develop this gaudy mosque and the brothers in the American Muslim ummah aren't capable of funding it and the other Mega mosque projects in lower Manhattan and Temecula, California. However, the fundamentalist brothers in the Muslim ummah abroad with billions of our hard earned cash earned from oil revenues here and abroad can and will.
The leaders of the ICM must feel emboldened to press ahead with this expansive project given what President Obama said last night about another controversial Mosque, the Ground Zero Cordoba house in lower Manhattan. Note what he said at Friday evening’s White House Iftar dinner:
"Let me be clear." Obama said at a White House dinner celebrating the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, "as a citizen, and as president, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as anyone else in this country. That includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances," Obama said.
But then Obama hedged when he got to Panama City, Florida on Saturday at his press conference. We believe that turnaround within less than 24 hours occurred because Democrats embroiled in tough mid-term election campaigns Twittered the White House evincing concern for the President’s dhimmi remarks.
ICM leaders eschew that as a minor piffle, because President Obama supports the expansion project, even if it has questionable sources of funding.
President Obama at Panama City, Florida Press conference
Shortly after his arrival for a family vacation on Florida's Gulf Coast in Panama City, President Obama held a press conference and immediately hedged his remarks about last night's endorsement of the Ground Zero mosque initiative promoted by the much maligned Imam Faisal Abdul Rauf. Park Place location for the project is not far from the pit at Ground Zero, considered by most Americans as 'hallowed ground' akin to Gettysburg. The perpetrators of the 2700 murders of innocent victims at the destroyed World Trade Center twin towers site were Muslims bringing death from afar and from the skies on that brilliant late summer day I witnessed nine years ago.
A recent Siena College Poll revealed that three out of five New Yorks (61 percent) opposed what Joel Mowbray called another gaudy mosque" -a 13 story $100 million project with questionable ownership and equally murky funding.
President Obama refined his defense of the Ground Zero mosque Saturday, saying his previous comments defended the right to build it, not the "wisdom" of its location.
The clarification came less than 24 hours after he spoke in support of the project during a White House celebration for the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
"My intention was simply to let people know what I thought, which was that in this country, we treat everybody equally and in accordance with the law, regardless of race, regardless of religion," the President said during a visit to the Gulf Coast Saturday.
"I was not commenting and I will not comment on the wisdom of making the decision to put a mosque there," Obama said. "I was commenting very specifically on the right people have that dates back to our founding. That's what our country is about."
But the opponents of the Codoba HouseIinitiative Ground Zero Mosque were highly critical:
"There is no issue of religious liberty. He won't face truth," Gingrich wrote.
Republican gubernatorial hopeful Rick Lazio reiterated that point, saying in a statement, "This is not an issue of religion, but one of safety and security through transparency."
Foes of the project fear Park51 will be funded by terrorists and become a rallying point for Muslim extremists whose goal is to destroy America.
Others say the planned 13-story center is akin to a victory shrine for the terrorists behind the 9/11 attacks.
Debra Burlingame, founder of 9/11 Families for a Safe and Strong America, said the President has "a gross lack of sensitivity to the 9/11 families and to the people who were lost."
"This controversy is not about religious freedom," she said in a statement. "Building a [13]-story mosque at Ground Zero is a deliberately provocative act that will precipitate more bloodshed in the name of Allah".
Walid Shoebat Translation: Ground Zero Mosque Imam, Faisal Abdel Rauf: “After 9/11 “Hamas, Hezbollah and Islamic Justice desire Islamic Law and Justice”
Imam Faisal Abdel Rauf
Walid Shoebat, ex-Palestinian terrorist and Christian convert, has uncovered another example of taqiyya by ground zero Mosque promoter, Imam Faisal Abdul Rauf. In his translation from the Arabic in an article “Sharing The Essence Of Our Beliefs” by Feisal Abdul Rauf, published in the Al-Ghad Newspaper in Jordan, 5/9/2009, Shoebat noted:
Cited by the words of Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf
(Translated from the Arabic by Walid Shoebat)
If someone in the Middle East cries out, “where is the law”, he knows that the law exists. The only law that the Muslim needs exists already in the Koran and the Hadith. People asked me right after the 9/11 attack as to why do movements with political agendas carry [Islamic] religious names? Why call it ‘Muslim Brotherhood’ or ‘Hezbollah (Party of Allah)’ or ‘Hamas’ or ‘Islamic Resistance Movement’? I answer them this—that the trend towards Islamic law and justice begins in religious movements, because secularism had failed to deliver what the Muslim wants, which is life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Progress Amid County Commission Debate over Murfreesboro Mosque Expansion
MTRF Protesters at Rutherford County Commission Hearing
It was a full house at last night’s Rutherford County Commission monthly meeting. This was the final meeting before the new Commission convenes on September 1st. While the Commission had its customary agenda, the fireworks occurred during the half hour of scheduled question time. The main event was the roiling debate over Islamic Center of Murfreesboro (ICM) zoning approvals, health & traffic studies and the Sherriff’s Office investigations into ICM board member, Mosaad Rawash.
Earlier this week, The Daily News Journal (DNJ) had essentially given Rawash a ‘pass’ based on the statements of the ICM board. The DNJ article was largely based on a news release issued by the ICM board, without checking with the Rutherford Sheriff’s Office. According to the ICM news release Rawash had no connections to Palestinian terrorist group Hamas. This despite contradictory allegations by former GOP Congressional candidate Lou Ann Zelenik based on investigations of Rawash’s My Space page by Steven Emerson. Rawash’s My Space Page has since been cleansed of all incriminating evidence. A lapse in journalistic standards by the DNJ was implied in testimony by citizen activists who spoke before yesterday’s Commission Hearing about continuing Sheriff’s Office investigations.
The proceeding was not without its drama. A self styled group calling itself Middle Tennesseans for Religious Freedom (MTRF) were decked out in yellow tee shirts carrying large posters with slogans like “Co-Exist” and “I love Muslims in Murfreesboro”. Eric Allen Bell, a so-called documentarian and ally of MTRF, which has members affiliated with the radical socialist group Solidarity, pushed a microphone in the face of one of the speakers, Laurie Cardozo Moore of Proclaiming Justice to the Nations (PJTN). Bell demanded to know “whether she was a paid agent of the Israelis”. Cardozo Moore replied at his suggestion, “Eric, you are a fool”. Bell subsequently approached Cardozo-Moore as she was about to speak later and was promptly advised by a Sheriff’s deputy to “move along”.
Of the nine citizens who had previously signed up, all spoke in opposition to the zoning approvals for the ICM expansion plan granted by the County Planning Commission and the conditional use permit for a Muslim burial on the Veals Road Bradeyville Pike site by Planning Commission Director Doug Demosi.
The ‘star’ among those who spoke was Sally Wall, a member of a prominent real estate brokerage and development family in Murfreesboro with considerable experience in clearing projects with the Planning Commission. Wall was quoted in the DNJ account:
“The safety of this community is what matters.” [. . .] “It almost looks like a conspiracy. It happened too quick.”
She got resounding applause from the ICM expansion plan protesters at the hearing. After she spoke, she was accosted by ‘documentarian’ Eric Bell, according to Cardozo-Moore.
Cardozo –Moore in her statement noted that in contradiction to the DNJ’s earlier article on ICM board clearance of member Rawash that the Sheriff’s Office investigator had confirmed that Rawash was still under investigation. The Sheriff’s Office is cooperating with FBI and Homeland Security. Sources at the Commission Hearing noted the presence of an FBI agent at last night’s proceedings.
Further, Cardozo-Moore noted that three citizens were prepared to offer testimony under oath about death threats made against them by members of the Muslim community. One of those threatened was a former Imam and Christian convert. That appeared to have raised a red flag and prompted some Commissioners to suggest a meeting with the PJTN legal counsel to discuss these issues.
Another citizen activist, Elizabeth Coker, noted in her testimony about the issuance of the conditional use permit for the Muslim burial by Planning Director Demosi:
We have a situation created by our County Planning Office whereby we now have one of the most unfortunate errors in our County history and that is the approval by the leadership of that department of a conditional use permit allowing a burial on the grounds of the proposed ICM site.
I first want to apologize to the family of the deceased for any hurt this may cause them considering that they are not at fault here, but our County Planner has made a serious mistake.
According to Section 6 of our county regulations Conditional Use Permits are only issued under the authority of the Board of Zoning and the Board of Commissioners.
Section 6.11 says nothing about the Planning Director having this authority to grant any such permit.
This includes Type 1, 2 and 3 permits.
It astounds me to know that the permit was issued the same day the person died on May, 18, 2010.
The Planning Director did not even sign the order himself, allowing his assistant to do so and I might add without requiring a copy of the death certificate when the application was presented.
7.01 Commissioners have the authority to revoke such permits.
If this Board does not want to take the proper action to follow their own guidelines when the citizens have taken the time to point out to you the incredible mistake in malfeasance of office here, then before taking it any further, know tonight that you have an opportunity to make right this improper procedure, by revoking the permit.
Coker’s comments about alleged improper issuance of the conditional use permit for the Muslim burial apparently also caught the attention of several of the Commissioners.
Mayor Burgess did not extend the usual 30 minute public comment time which angered the MTRF protesters who signed up too late. The DNJ Article on the commission hearings quoted an MTRF member Thomas Moss, who signed up to speak, but did not get the chance.
“It’s disappointing that both sides were not heard, “Moss said. “I believe Muslims are in the right.”
Moss, though, said, “planning officials do have a responsibility to examine site plan.”
The Commissioners following the testimony of those who spoke in opposition to the ICM expansion zoning approvals passed a resolution ordering a study to address questions relating to whether religious institutions should undergo reviews akin to those of commercial developments. They further requested that a Steering Committee report back findings at the next regular meeting of the County Commission in September.
Just today, taping began for grading the ICM Veals Road site for construction.
Given the Public Works Committee’s earlier unanimous vote requesting County agencies to investigate the health, traffic and other issues surrounding the Mega-mosque zoning approvals, it would appear that the ICM expansion project may have been effectively put on hold. Doubtless, more will follow in the next month before the results of several investigations by County agencies, the Rutherford Sheriff’s Office and, possibly, the District Attorney are completed and findings presented.
The credit goes to the loose network of concerned citizens in Rutherford County, an example for similar Mega-mosque protests elsewhere in the US.
Muslim Advocacy group demands Zakat reform at Obama White House Iftar Dinner
A hat tip to David Gaubatz for sending this newsworthy item.
San Francisco –base Muslim Advocates (MA), a legal defense group affiliated with the National Association of Muslim lawyers with a staff composed of former US Senate, Homeland security and major municipality aides, is demanding that President Obama lift the controls over more than 40 plus Muslim, Arab, Sikh and South Asian charities. MA sent him a letter outlining their demands and Deputy director Ms.Naheed Qureshi, “will also urge President Obama to keep his commitment to reform charitable giving laws when she attends the White House Ramadan [Iftar] Dinner” Friday evening in Washington, DC.
Here is what MA is demanding:
On this first day of Ramadan, Muslim Advocates organized a letter to President Obama on behalf of 40+ other American Muslim, Arab, Sikh, and South Asian charities describing how federal laws and discriminatory actions of federal agents are putting a chill on zakat in our communities, and asking for him to take immediate action.
"At this time, federal investigations and intelligence-gathering activities continue to interfere with the day-to-day charitable activities of American Muslims and obstruct our ability to build and support strong civic institutions. [...] These overly broad and invasive investigative and intelligence-gathering activities create fear, chill charitable activities, and ultimately undermine the continued participation and integration of Muslims in America."
The letter expresses collective dismay that - despite extensive meetings among Muslim Advocates, other community leaders, and administration officials over the past year - the President has not followed through with his 2009 Cairo pledge to ease hurdles to charitable giving for American Muslims.
The letter also proposes specific policy reform measures the President and Congress can take, such as:
• Directing the Justice Department and Treasury Department to issue agency orders providing a safe-harbor for well-intentioned donors;
• Directing the Treasury Department and State Department, which collectively maintain the various Prohibited Lists, to create a single, user-friendly, searchable database that compiles all Prohibited Lists in one central location housed with the Office of Foreign Assets Control at the Treasury Department; and
• Directing the Treasury Secretary to withdraw Treasury’s vague and quasi-voluntary Anti-Terrorist Financing Guidelines: Voluntary Best Practices for U.S.-Based Charities, which chill the delivery of critical humanitarian aid and provide charities with no protection from legal sanction even if the Guidelines are painstakingly followed.
In addition to this letter, Muslim Advocates issued two advisory memos to Obama Administration officials today:
1. The first memorandum highlights specific examples of prosecutions, investigations and intelligence-gathering activities that have targeted Muslim donors and their institutions, and created a chilling effect on charitable activities. Additionally, it sets forth specific policy proposals to address these concerns.
2. The second memorandum offers the legal and policy rationale for one concrete step forward that the President can take toward fulfilling his commitment: implementing a safe harbor provision for well-intentioned donors and charities.
Last July, we published an NER article, “Zakat and Terrorism” reviewing recommendations of the American Civil Liberties Union and the dangers of Attorney General Eric Holder’s willingness to remove some of these restrictions on domestic Muslim Charities, a source of terrorist and Jihad financing. We noted:
On June 16th, the ACLU released a report, “Blocking Faith, Freezing Charity”. An AP news report noted:
The American Civil Liberties Union says federal laws targeting terrorism financing are vague and have given the government unchecked power over American Muslim charities.
An ACLU report issued Tuesday said many people who want to comply with their faith's tenet of charitable giving have stopped doing that out of worry they could be swept up in a terrorism financing investigation.
The report is based on more than 120 interviews with American Muslim leaders and donors and with former Treasury Department officials.
Perhaps President Obama and Attorney General Holder had the preliminary ACLU report in mind when the Cairo speech surfaced the comment about loosening the bonds of federal counter terrorism laws that have allegedly intimidated American Muslims from performing the obligation of Zakat.
Jonathan Schanzer, former Treasury counter terrorism expert commented to the author that “US government seizures of Muslim charities assets were based on intelligence and investigations.”
First, there are no "rules" barring Muslims from giving to charity, as he suggests. There are laws against giving material support to terrorists, and those laws were first enacted under the Clinton administration. They've also made it harder for jihadists to fulfill their own perverted religious obligation to murder Westerners. If it weren't for Treasury's crackdown on charitable fronts, they'd still be siphoning off donations for terrorist attacks.
Material-support laws have become a sore subject for Muslim groups and their allies like the ACLU because the vast majority of terror is carried out by Muslim groups — with Muslim money.
Second, the president and the ACLU imply that the right to give donations in the name of zakat is absolute. It's not. And nothing is stopping Muslims from giving donations to legitimate charities — Muslim or non-Muslim — or through their mosques to fulfill their religious obligation.
The ACLU whines that its choices are limited now that nine major U.S. Muslim charities have been shut down. In each case, however, evidence that the charities funneled money to al-Qaida, Hamas and other terrorist groups was overwhelming.
The ACLU argues that "only one" was actually convicted. True, but it was the largest Muslim charity in America, and it funneled more than $12 million to terrorists. The Holy Land Foundation and its leaders were convicted on all 108 counts. Top leaders recently got life sentences.
Never mind that. The ACLU demands Treasury unfreeze all the Muslim charity assets it's frozen, including Holy Land's assets. It also wants the Justice Department to expunge the names of the Council on American-Islamic Relations and other Muslim front groups from its unindicted co-conspirator list. ACLU says CAIR was "smeared," ignoring the dozens of court exhibits linking CAIR to the radical Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas.
The ACLU's real agenda is revealed in the section of the 165-page report where it recommends "reforms." Turns out it also wants to deny the government key anti-terror tools, such as blacklisting individuals and groups as "specially designated global terrorists."
An email to the author, David Yerushalmi, a litigator and General Counsel to the Center for Security Policy, had this telling comment regarding the ACLU report:
The work of the ACLU on undermining the material support of terrorism statute (18 USC 2339) and the federal private right of action for violations of that statute (18 USC 2333) is a serious problem. The ACLU is extremely adept at undermining such statutes both through concerted political action and strategic lawsuits. This is a very dangerous development especially in light of the President’s adoption of the Ihkwan’s (Muslim Brotherhood) lexicon.
In conclusion we noted:
The connections between Zakat and support for Jihad are ancient and run deep in the Muslim World. Complaints from the ACLU and American Muslim community attempt to view the various surveillance and asset seizures as an invasion of religious freedom. In reality, these complaints are a thinly disguised attempt to overturn the counterterrorism finance laws that have been a bulwark since 9/11. The Obama Administration’s outreach to Muslim Brotherhood fronts like the ISNA raises serious questions about what the intent is of these “New Beginnings.” The alternative of a government issued ‘white list’ of eligible Muslim charities is not in the best interests of legitimate religious and NGO charities. Some have suggested, what is needed is a so-called ‘gray list’ that would allow Muslims and others to forward anonymous complaints for posting on a website to track instances that might violate US counterterrorism finance laws and executive orders. For, after all, it is for the Muslims to rein in extremism across the ummah as President Obama said in his Cairo speech. What better way than to exclude Jihadi purposes from the obligation to perform Zakat.
So, will Obama acquiesce to the reformist demands of MA when they sit down at Friday’s White House Iftar dinner?
Nonie Darwish of Former Muslims United debates NY CAIR over Ground Zero mosque
Yesterday, Nonie Darwish, human rights advocate, author and President of Former Muslims United debated Zead Ramadan of the NYC CAIR Chapter on MSNBC.
During this debate, Ramadan put up a smokescreen of ad hominen attacks against Darwish calling her a fabricator of lies about Islam and citing her listing on Loonwatch. Totally irrelevant. Darwish pushed back by citing Sharia death threats against apostates, putting in context what Mosques are used for in the Middle East and elsewhere in the Muslim ummah; i.e., indoctrination, preaching hate against infidels, storing arms and issuing commands for Jihad and sectarian warfare against fellow Muslims. She also cited the FMU Freedom Pledge campaign with requests to abjure death threats against apostates sent to American Muslim leaders, including the promoter of the ground zero Mosque, Imam Faisal Abdel Rauf. FMU sent out over 163 letters containing the Freedom Pledge with only two responses to honor civil and human rights of those who have left Islam.
Ramadan struck back at ADL national director Abe Foxman, who came out against the ground zero mosque project because of its insensitivity to the surviving 9/11 families. Ramadan implied in his sinuous remarks that Foxman has been rejected by his own Jewish community and that the Cordorba house initiative has the support of interfaith groups and Mayor Bloomberg of New York City. As the Coalition to honor 9/11 noted in this blog post on the Darwish Ramadan MSNBC debate:
The MSNBC moderator must not have seen the Siena poll released last week that found 61 percent of New York residents oppose this center planned for Ground Zero.
Mayor Bloomberg is in denial about how New Yorkers and virtually all Americans venerate the former World Trade Center site as hallowed ground. He forgot that Islamic terrorism took the lives of 2700 innocents that I and many others witnessed first hand on that brilliant late summer day nine years ago in Manhattan. How quickly he and other New York Democratic politicians have forgotten the carnage and wanton destruction that day wrought by Egyptian, Saudi and Yemeni Jihadis. Bloomberg and other Democratic politicians preach about putting this behind us and advocating for the mosque in lower Manhattan as demonstrative of a healing process. They fail to recognize that Jihadis throughout the ummah continue absurdly to justify the 9/11 attack because infidels had desecrated the holy lands of Saudi Arabia by sending coalition forces to defend it during and following the First Gulf War.
Our comment is that the MSNBC producers and moderator in this segment continue to frame this debate in terms of granting to Islam religious liberties under the Establishment clause of the First Amendment. They fail consistently to recognize the extremist Jihad doctrine of Political Islam aimed at world domination. The Darwish Ramadan debate served a useful purpose in jarring the viewer audience to raise the question of whether Islam is in reality a totalitarian ideology with a thin veneer of religious practices.

Former Muslim debates NY CAIR over Ground Zero mosque
Nonie Darwish is a founding member of Former Muslims United. She recently debated Zead Ramadan over the proposed mosque, aka the Cordoba House, Islamic cultural center, fun center, 51 Park Place, Park51, and 15-story mosque planned to overlook Ground Zero. Zead Ramadan heads the New York chapter of CAIR. Apparently, Ramadan was offended by Darwish pointing out the Council of American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) is an un-indicted conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation’s (HLF) illegal transfer of more than $12 million dollars to U.S.-designated terror organization Hamas. The MSNBC moderator must not have seen the Siena poll released last week that found 61 percent of New York residents oppose this center planned for Ground Zero.

UK Coptic Group Seeks Arrest Warrant for Egyptian Muslim Cleric Sheikh al-Badri for 'Hate Speech'
Mary Abdelmassih of the AINA news service has a timely article, “Arrest Warrant Sought for Egyptian Muslim Cleric for “Hate Speech” about a UK –based Coptic Christian group seeking an arrest warrant for Egyptian Sheikh Yusuf al-Badri of the Supreme Islamic Council for Islamic affairs affiliated with Al Azhar University in Cairo. Al Badri is the author of the infamous comment about what Sharia commands Muslims to do about apostates captured on a German news video story and posted in translation on the Vlad Tepes and other blogs: “God has commanded us to kill those who leave Islam.”
The AINA news story noted:
A Christian Coptic human rights group is seeking to initiate an international arrest warrant in the United Kingdom against the leading Muslim fundamentalist cleric Sheikh Yousef al-Badri for inciting Muslims to kill apostates from Islam in Egypt. Al-Badri, who is a member of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs and is associated with the primary Islamic institute of al Azhar University, is reported to have stated "God has commanded us to kill those who leave Islam."
Although Christianity in Egypt is not illegal, it is under a common interpretation of Islamic law that conversion to another religion from Islam is punishable by death. Muslims, mainly fundamentalists, see no difference between apostasy and subversion; they fear that allowing conversion will ultimately undermine Islam.
"We expected the Egyptian Prosecutor General to take legal action against al-Badri, but unfortunately in Egypt impunity for Muslims prevails at all levels when it comes to the rights of Christians," said Dr. Ibrahim Habib, President of United Copts of Great Britain who will initiate the arrest warrant. "Incitement to kill is a crime under legal and ethical norms."
The German news video from which al-Badri’s comment was extracted concerned the tragic status in Egypt of prominent apostates Maher al-Gowhary and his daughter Dina barred from leaving Egypt.
The AINA report notes these human rights threats of Sheikh al-Badri to the al-Gowharys:
Another victim of "hate speech" is Muslim-born Maher el-Gowhary who publicly converted to Christianity in 2008, after secretly being a Christian for over 35 years (AINA 9-26-2009). In August 2008, he filed the second lawsuit of a Muslim-born against the Egyptian Government to seek official recognition of his conversion. He lost the case on June 13, 2009. According to the Court ruling, the religious conversion of a Muslim is against Islamic law and poses a threat to the "Public Order" in Egypt.
The Fatwa (religious edict) issued by Sheikh Yousef al-Badri calling for the "shedding of his blood" caused Maher and his teenage daughter Dina, who also converted to Christianity, to live in hiding and be constantly on the run, fearing danger from reactionaries and advocates of the enforcement of Islamic apostasy death laws.
"We live in constant fear ever since radical sheikhs have called for my blood to be shed because I left Islam. We are mostly afraid of the uneducated people on the street," Maher said in an interview aired end July 2010 on ZDF German TV (video).
Maher escaped many attacks on his life, the last taking place on Sunday, July 5, 2010, when a Muslim fundamentalist tried to behead him in broad daylight. His daughter Dina also escaped an acid attack (AINA 4-17-2010).
Former Muslims United (FMU) has used Sheikh al-Badri’s comments in news releases. It has been a featured video on the former Muslims website to convey how death fatwas issued by Muslim clerics and Sharia Jurists like al-Badri threaten the civil and human rights of apostates. His remarks are a justification for FMU Freedom Pledge Campaign that sought American Muslim leaders to abjure these Sharia death Fatwas against those who have left Islam. FMU only got two responses from more than 163 Freedom Pledge letters sent to American Muslim leaders.
The UK Coptic Human Rights arrest warrant for Sheikh al Badri is ironic in another way. You may recall that Dutch politician Geert Wilders is the subject of a 2008 Interpol arrest warrant issued by a Jordanian court on the grounds of defaming Islam with his film Fitna.
In the current debates about the eruption of Mega-mosques in the United States, the UK Coptic group human rights initiative furthers the argument that Islamic Sharia is in violation of both US civil rights laws and the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The Cairo Dec
